Hi,
I am so happy to present my new work on guitar solo, it is called « Self Tape Echoes« .
This is a work I have started as an experiment. I wanted to reproduce the sound of the old tape echoes, that were aiming to simulate the sound of natural reverberation in a small studio.
To do this, I found a second hand reel to reel recorder from the 60’s (a recorder with magnetic tape), modified it with some custom electronics, and after some perseverance, got it working beautifully!
The sound was so captivating that it inspired me to start composing. I found myself in a creative loop, recording music and continually tweaking the tape echo setup. I even built several versions to explore different sonic possibilities, each one transforming my guitar’s sound in inspiring ways.
This album is a collection of compositions and improvisations that emerged from experimenting with these handcrafted tape echoes and my guitar.
The music is available in my Bandcamp page:

And if you’d like to build your own tape echo, I’ve put together a guidebook detailing the process:

I would like to thank the Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya for supporting this investigation work with a grant 🙏
I dedicate this music to my parents.
Hope you enjoy it!
