Olivier Jambois is a multifaceted musician whose artistic path spans a wide range of styles and approaches, always rooted in a deep desire for exploration and creation.

He  has received several musical distincions, among them the Rezzo-Jazz à Vienne award and the Jazz(s)RA award in 2011 with his french trio Enchant(i)er. His first album has been produced by the famous french discography Naïve. This disc received some distinctions, one “Révélation!” by Jazz Magazine, and an other one “Découverte” by Jazz News.

In 2020, he was awarded an international residency grant by La Marfà (Girona), where he invited drummer Jim Black to collaborate on what became Eclosió, a project recorded and released by the Catalan label Underpool.

He currently leads or co-leads several projects, including Eclosió, Looking for the Truth, and Uscita (see discography). He is also deeply engaged in solo guitar work, having released three solo albums. Each reflects a different facet of his creative process: the first (2016) explores the use of pedals to expand texture and space; the second (2024) integrates a self-built, modified tape echo based on his scientific background (it was awarded by a grant from the Cultural Department of the Generalitat de Catlunya); the third (2025) involves real-time sound processing using Pure Data, pushing the limits of live sound manipulation.

He has shared the stage with musicians such as Jim Black, Masa Kamaguchi, Ramon Prats, Albert Cirrera, Jordi Pallarés, Bill McHenry, Christophe Monniot, Gregory Sallet, Jordi Rabascall, Mariano Camarasa, among others.

His work has been presented at major festivals including Jazz à Vienne, Festival Le Bazardier, Nancy Jazz Pulsations, D’Jazz Nevers, Jazz à Orléans, Avaulx Jazz, Barcelona Voll-Damm Jazz Festival, Festival Jazz Vic, and more.

He is currently working at ENTI-UB (Escola de Noves Tecnologies Interactives - Universitat de Barcelona), teaching composition and electric guitar. He also has a research activity in the music & sound department, in close relation with his artistic activity.

Born in Lorraine, France, he begins music at 5 with clasic violin and trumpet, he obtains the first diploma with 13 years old. He learns guitar in parallel in autodidact, turning his musical direction to jazz and improvised music. He meets Serge Lazarevitch, Pierre-Jean Gaucher, Didier Levallet, Marc Ducret, Wayne Krantz, Evan Parker, among others.

He learns composition with dutch musician Christiaan de Jong, and has a degree (titol superior) in jazz and modern music in the Liceo’s superior conservatory of music of Barcelona, Spain, city where he is now living. There, he was under the teaching of Jordi Bonell and Dani Perez.

He is the author of the french blog fais-tes-effets-guitare, aimed to help musicians with electronics circuits.

He is member of the catalan music association AMJM, and of the french music collective Pince-Oreilles.
